Dear readers, we are pleased to announce the creation of a brand new international and collaborative research project between France and Romania, entitled « Geoarchaeology and Geohistory of the Danube Delta ».
This project consolidates long-established collaborations between these two countries within the framework of 1- the « SEEG Danube » Global Ecology Study Site of the CNRS Institute of Environmental Ecology and 2- the « Archaeology of the Danube Delta » Mission led by Laurent Carozza (CNRS UMR 5602 GEODE, Toulouse) and Cristian Micu (ICEM, Tulcea). Its aim is to enable the organisation of working meetings or seminars, the development of joint research activities including field research, and the supervision of students.
The IRP brings together archaeologists, geomorphologists, bio-archaeologists and geographers in the same team, with the aim of creating an international interdisciplinary research and research training centre on geo-archaeological issues in the Lower Danube area. The IRP is structured around six French and Romanian research centres. It is supported by the GEODE UMR 5602 CNRS-Université Toulouse Jean-Jaurès laboratory (France) and the « Alexandru Ioan Cuza » University of Iasi, Faculty of Biology, (Bioarchaeology Research Group) for Romania. The teams of UMR 7266 LIENSs (CNRS-University of La Rochelle), the Institute of Archaeology « Vasile Parvan » of the Romanian Academy, the Eco-Museum Research Institute (ICEM) « Gavrila Simion » of Tulcea and the University of Bucharest (the Department of Ancient History, Archaeology and History of Art of the Faculty of History and the platform « ArchaeoSciences#RO ») participate in this program.
This scientific blog will allow us to communicate and dialogue with you, in real time, on our research activities and news related to our work. We will take care to illustrate our posts.
We look forward to seeing you on our pages ?.
