Funding for postgraduate courses in philosophy and in history and philosophy of science and medicine

DURHAM UNIVERSITY - FUNDING FOR POSTGRADUATE COURSES IN PHILOSOPHY AND IN
HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE AND MEDICINE


The following funding opportunities are available for postgraduate
students beginning degree courses in autumn 2011:



·         1 AHRC Doctoral Award

·         1 AHRC MA Award

·         A number of Durham Doctoral Studentships (distributed throughout
all departments in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities)

·         A number of MA Scholarships (distributed throughout all
departments in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities)

·         2 PhD studentships offered by the European Research Council to
support the project 'Sastravid: A New Paradigm for the Study of Indian
Philosophy'. For further information, please contact Dr Jan Westerhoff

·         2 one-year Wellcome studentships for students wishing to study
the history of medicine as part of Durham's MA in the History and
Philosophy of Science and Medicine. The first award is to the value of
£10,000; the second to the value of £5000. The closing date for
applications is 28 February 2011.

·         The Philosophy Department is also able to offer a number of
£1000 and £2000 Bretherton Scholarships for 2011-12, which will be awarded
to outstanding PhD applicants who have no other external source of
funding.
