Fully Funded PhD Studentship in the History of Health/ Medicine

The Centre for the Social History of Health and Healthcare Glasgow (CSHHH) at the University of Strathclyde is offering a fully funded, three year postgraduate studentship for research into the history of health and/or medicine in the twentieth-century. The CSHHH is a research collaboration with Glasgow Caledonian University (see www.gcu.ac.uk/cshhh<http://www.gcu.ac.uk/cshhh>).  Founded in 2005, the CSHHH has built a research environment and postgraduate community founded on funding from both universities and from the Wellcome Trust, the ESRC and the AHRC.  The successful applicant will be embedded in this community and will also be able to draw upon the new Graduate School in Humanities and Social Sciences (http://www.strath.ac.uk/humanities/courses/gradschool/) at the University of Strathclyde.

The studentship covers fees of ?3400 and living expenses of ?13590 per annum.

Candidates will have a good 2.1 or First Class Honours degree and a Masters degree in relevant subject areas.  Please submit a CV, the outline of a proposed project (no more than 1000 words) and the names of two academic referees by August 12th to Mrs Ann Bartlett (ann.bartlett@strath.ac.uk).  Interviews of prospective candidates will be conducted by August 26th.  The successful candidate will take up the studentship in October 2011.
