Two Visiting Fellowships 2011/12

The Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities and The Birkbeck Pain Project (funded by the Wellcome Trust and based in the Department of History, Classics, and Archaeology at Birkbeck, University of London) are offering two Visiting Research Fellowships for anyone researching any aspect of bodily pain.

Fellowships are open to academic researchers working on bodily pain from the perspectives of history of medicine or the medical humanities, including history, philosophy, anthropology, law, ethics, literature, film studies, art, sociology, and psychology.

Each Fellow will be entitled to £1,300 per month for a maximum period of three months. Successful applicants can take up their posts at the BIH any time from October 2011 to September 2012.

Fellows will be expected to collaborate with The Birkbeck Pain Project and they will be required to organise a public event or academic workshop, at which they will present their own research.
